About us

The team managing the Centre of Excellence, led by Professor Susanna Cafaro, has its historical core in the group of professors and scholars of European and international law at the University of Salento, which has organised the annual Supranational Democracy Dialogue since 2018. Over time, the group has expanded to include colleagues from other disciplines at the same university and a dense international network of scholars and representatives of civil society—as evidenced by the faculty and the scientific committee—within which numerous shared projects and initiatives have flourished. The Centre is hosted by the Department of Legal Sciences of the University of Salento, directed by Professor Luigi Melica, and collaborates closely with the Association for Supranational Democracy, chaired by Dr Mauro Spedicati, who complements its initiatives in the local context and at the civil society level.
